My Client is a family business that has been growing and exporting organic pecans since 1995. The farm is on the Orange River between Hopetown and Orania.

They are growing their management team and will be recruiting two assistant managers to support the Farm Manager. This role will assume responsibility for their organic pecan orchard. They are also recruiting for an assistant manager for their extensive farming operations beyond the orchard.

Description of role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of their 130ha organic pecan orchard, and assist the Farm Manager as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

● Qualification in agronomy, horticulture, or similar

● Minimum 2 years of experience in orchard management

● Good understanding of irrigation systems

● Good understanding of farm machinery

● Bilingual. English and Afrikaans. (Interview will be held in English)

Responsibilities:

● Organic pecan orchard management

– Irrigation programme

– Cover crop and fertiliser programme

– Pruning – Tree canopy and sunlight management

– Management of pests

– Harvesting

– Machinery

● Managing a team of 10 orchard staff

– Effective workforce management, coordination and development

● Liaise with administrative staff to maintain records and documentation

● Deputising for Farm Manager when necessary
