Job purpose: Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all production-related farm activities on the allocated production area.

Key Accountability Areas

• Overall responsibility of the Production equipment, biological assets and personnel Unit’s operations,


• Provide leadership, direction and oversight to farm’s management team (technical, financial and administrative)

• Annual, monthly, weekly and daily planning and communication with the management team to ensure production tasks are executed in line with requirements for overall objectives

• Manage day-to-day farming operations within approved Standard Operating Procedures and Budget, with the intention of realising the Production Unit’s objectives as developed in conjunction with Agricultural Management

• Constantly evaluate data and monitor performance with the aim of optimising farming techniques and practices to meet and exceed set objectives

• Alert and inform the Agricultural Manager regarding any irregularity, lack of compliance, lack of adherence, inefficiencies, and risks, whether actual or potential, concerning operations, tasks, duties, activities, operational plans, programmes and any other matter of which could or does have an implication on the Production Unit’s ability to achieve its expected results

• Prepare annual water budget, manage water allocations and storage accordingly to mitigate risks

• Ensure that quality control and compliance procedures are followed according to accreditation and management systems

• Management of operations within approved budget and motivation of any potential deviations (both technical and financial) to Management

• Ensure implementation and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines

• Participate in the preparation of annual production plans production budgets

• Motivate, mentor, coach and manage a team of managers, supervisors and labourers to build a strong team

• Perform any reasonable duties as requested by the Agricultural Manager Qualification and Experience

• Grade 12/Matric

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture (Citrus)

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ proven experience in the cultivation of citrus
